Greetings From Sr. Rosa

By Sr. Rosa Wang

Jesus said, “Beware! Don’t always be wishing for what you don’t have. For real life and real living are not related to how rich we are”. He also said, “Fool! Tonight you die. Then who will get it all? “ Yes, every man is a fool who get rich on earth but not in heaven “. Because life is more precious than everything else, what exactly it is that we should be looking for on this precious journey of life?
This year, we have encountered many challenges. As we continue to grow and provide more services, the government also amends the policies and demands more from the welfare organizations for the benefits of the children, which eventually pushed us to make amends of our internal system and guidelines as well. Although some of the changes conflicted with some of the staffs’ interests, in order to better serve the children we had to do what we were required to fulfill. Unfortunately such conflict became unmanageable and could not be settled between us more civilly which inevitably lead to a lawsuit against us.
What makes it hard for me to understand is that I thought the reason why we ended up working here is because we made a conscious choice to serve the ones in need and a purpose that is greater than oneself. Does possession really outweighs life? I pray to God for strength to face my challenges to fight for our children’s best interests. “Give it to Caesar if it is his, and give God everything that belongs to God”.
Christmas is a time full of warmth, love, peace and joy. It’s something that we want to have everyday, not just on Christmas day. It needs everyone to put in effort, to give selflessly. It doesn’t matter whether you are Catholic, Christian, Buddhist, Muslim or even atheist, as long as we all follows the guidance of Holy Spirit, we can live in the Christmas spirit everyday. “But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…”
Let us pray for one another and love everyone generously. Starting from us, from everyone, every family, every school and community, and there will always be hope for the mankind! I wish you all a beautiful Christmas, and a new year filled with Christmas spirit in 2012.
