Lumen- December 2025

Greetings from Cathwel

Dear friends,

As the year comes to an end, our hearts are full of gratitude. We truly felt God watching over us this year, and we are so thankful for everyone who supported us, prayed for us, and walked alongside us. Because of you, we made it through 2025 and even did things we once thought were impossible.

In 2026, we will continue to uphold our core mission: in the eyes of Jesus, every child is infinitely precious. We firmly believe that every child deserves a safe, stable, and loving environment in which to grow. In the coming year, we will remain faithful to this calling—continuing to seek family-based adoptive homes for the most vulnerable children, both domestically and internationally, while also providing high-quality residential care.

“Listen to me, O coastlands, pay attention, you peoples from afar!
The Lord called me from the womb, from my mother’s body He named my name…
In a time of favor I have answered you; on a day of salvation I have helped you;
I will keep you safe.”
(Isaiah 49:1, 8)

The words from Isaiah remind us: God has called each of us from the very beginning, and He promises to hold us and protect us. We have seen this again and again—each child truly is a pearl held in God’s hands.

Over the many years of our mission, we have witnessed that everyone—not just the children—is a precious pearl in God’s hands—and He never fails to catch us. Yet this journey requires time and patience; it has never been an easy path. Each time we see a child leave Oasis House or Jonah House with courage and blessing to begin a new stage, or when grown children return to visit us after many years, we once again see God’s love continuing to move in their lives. And it is this love that sustains us and gives us the strength to keep going, without giving up.

We pray that each of you who loves us, and whom we deeply love in return, may live each day of 2026 with peace, and receive the joy that God promises.

Wishing you a blessed and joyful Christmas!

We are deeply grateful to all the friends who have shown their love and care for Sister Rosa — through your visits, kind messages, and warm thoughts. Sister Rosa is doing well and is cheerfully learning the gentle lesson that “aging isn’t always easy.” She sends her heartfelt blessings to everyone, wishing you a joyful New Year filled with good health and happiness!

Overview of Cathwel’s Roots-Finding Program

Over the past forty years, countless adoptees from various countries have returned to Taiwan, hoping to reunite with their birth families or learn more about their place of origin. Cathwel Service has been continuously providing roots-finding services for decades to meet the needs of adoptees. Currently, Cathwel offers two types of roots-finding programs: the Group Roots-Finding Program and the Individual Roots-Finding Program. Since the two programs have distinct characteristics and requirements, we recommend that adoptees select the option that best fits their circumstances. Please check here to learn more about these two Roots-Finding programs.
